The final blog!
The trip has flown by and we've had an amazing time. This final week was brilliant and such a great way to end the 6 months.
We decided to qualify as Open Water divers in our final week, and the beautiful Perhentian Islands off the coast of Malaysia was the setting. We were incredibly lucky with location- our hostel and dive school were next door to each other- as well as our group which we got on with really well and had a lot of fun with. In total we did 6 open water dives and saw an Eagle Ray, a Hawkbill Turtle, a Bambu Shark, hundreds of fish including Lion fish, Clown fish and Puffer fish, as well as colourful coral. Our final dive was to a ship wreck, which was the highlight of the dives as it was incredibly exciting and new.
When we werent diving or studying(!) we chilled on the beach, played volleyball or football, took ourselves off snorkling, and had a few drinks of 'Monkey Juice' in the evening with other tourists and people in our diving group.
Many of the people we met were heading north into Thailand after, and it would have been so tempting to have joined them, but we were both ready to come home to see family and friends.
We'll never forget the 6 months and we have many highlights and fond memories. Thank you to everyone who had read our blogs and written to us. It was always really nice to hear from home and we really appreciated the messages.
Lots of love, Rhys and Hannah xx
