My blog on Uruguay basically goes like this . . . you have to go there. Its beautiful.
Me and the lovely Steph took the slow boat over from BA on Monday morning, and were so lucky to have a beautiful sunny day. It really does make all the difference. It is so stunning in Colonia becauae they have left the old port town almost untouched, so it just a mass of cobbled streets and roads all covered in flowers. Even the cars are all from a time gone by, but always colourful. The streets are all lines with huge trees, which looked so lovely, even at the end of Autumn. There are so many beautiful little shops and streets and you can climb to the top of the lighthouse to get a view of most of the town, and the sea and beaches. The sunsets in Colonia are known for being spectacular, and we were pretty lucky with ours. Steph only came for the day but I stayed, and spent the next couple of days making some very good Uruguayan friends and having a real Uruguayan experience because of them so thank you boys. I spent the next day horse riding all through the forrest parkland and beaches, then came back to a huge BBQ the boys had made, and we basically ate as much steak as we could fit in our bellies, and drank grappa till the early hours. PERFECT!!
