Like a band of gypsies we go down the highway
Well well well, what has happened since last I wrote...
Explored more of Panama City, went to a real estate fair to visit Stuart's girlfriend, Janelle, while she was working and discovered that they have Christmas parades, complete with elves and reindeer in September...hmmm...
Went to a German bar and discovered that American College Football is big even in Latin America. Discovered that even when you don't think there is anyone around, someone is still buying your drinks for you, which is always a pleasant surprise.
Went to small Irish bar to listen to local band, who later made me lose very badly at a game of pool. Went to a small club that was too crowded inside, so hung out on the deck drinking the national drink of Seco and pineapple juice while two of Stuart's friends tried to teach me choreographed dance moves to really bad songs.
Took a crowded bus out to Los Santos with a guy's hand on my shoulder the whole four hours, then a cab out to Penessee to go out the the hotel. Since it is not officially opened yet, I got to enjoy the luxury of a deserted beach cove and a pool looking over the ocean. Watched humback whales and crabs running across the sand. Lounged in one of the many hammocks with a glass of wine watching the sunset. Fell asleep to tropical thunderstorm. Drove along the beach during low tide. Swam in the ocean at night looking for phosphorescents. Watched fire flys and stars. All in all, it was pretty much paradise.
Returned to the city Wednesday afternoon. It's been raining a lot, so have spent lots of time at cafes or in covered areas of the park reading. Leave for Costa Rica tomorrow. My internet time is up. must go. love.
