Hi all
We have finally arrived in Krabi, so I am going to update our journal on our events in Ko Samui. We left Bangkok via overnight train which took around 12 hours to get us to Surat Thani where we would be picked up on a coach and taken onto the ferry to Ko Samui.
The train was certainly an experience, we have all heard different stories regarding carriages that turn into a bit of a disco where you can all have a drink to pass the time – this was not the case with the train we was on. We were on different carriages to each other, so me and Tanq were in one, Moulder, Ginge and H in the other. The seats were turned into bunk beds and we had to try to get some sleep as it was lights out, at about 7.00pm. This turned out to be very tricky as the train felt like it was jumping 3 feet in the air plus we had Ginge ‘cut’ his finger in one of the doors and had every paramedic you could find nursing a little scratch.
Having finally finished the train journey we got to Surat Thani and were literally taken for mugs as we all forked out an extra few baht to try and get us to Ko Samui earlier but ended up being on the same ferry. We got sorted out with our rooms and headed straight for the town and stumbled across the Thai Boxing. It was at this point where we decided to sample the Sang Som and the night ended with myself, Ginge and Tanq talking to some random bloke telling us all about his relationship with his ‘new Thai bride’.
The next day was at the beach chilling out to prepare us all for the full moon party. H decided to get her hair braided while the lads pampered themselves with a foot massage (Ginger had to pay double and they took so much skin off he now seems the same height as Moulder). With H outdoing us with her braided hair us lads decided to experiment with the clippers and ‘Sun In’ which left Moulder, Ginger and Tanq with shaven heads and me with very, very short ginger/blonde hair – but don’t worry mom it will grow back!!
We got to Ko Phagnan for the full moon party via 20 minute speedboat in the dark which in hindsight wasn’t the best idea but we got there in one piece. When we arrived at the party we were all in awe of what was going on around us, it is really hard to describe. There were fire eaters and all areas to chill out, dance, party, but H forced us to find the Villa game on live in one of the bars. We helped ourselves to the buckets of Sang Som and soon ended up with everyone getting a bit messy.
The rest is a bit of a blur to me but I was quickly sobered up as it was my task to try and get the ‘big man’ safely back on the ferry and home. The others were not far behind and in the morning we all had time to reflect on what a brilliant night we had all had.
We then had a couple of nice days to relax by the pool and beach, me and Tanq decided to keep up the fitness by jogging on the beach everyday, the others have tried and failed but determined to give it a go every time. One of the last nights in Ko Samui we decided to check out Chaweng, which turned out to be pretty quiet as the weather was really bad and before we knew it we were back in our regular joint on Lamai beach.
A couple of crap weather days and we was all ready to move on to our next leg of the world tour. It was to be by ferry and coach in which we would arrive to our next location – Krabi.
Hope you all enjoyed this instalment, check out the photos and leave us a message, it is good to hear from you all.
All the best
Love Carl
