M: Today we were up early to catch our sailing boat, ocean free, to green island and the great barrier reef. The weather was rather cold and windy when we hit the open seas we were in 3 metre deep swells and our boat was only small. We got hit by a massive wave and one side of the boat became completely submerged!!! Once all that was over we got to the reef where the water was still very rough and the currents were super strong despite this we had an excellent time snorkelling. We saw loads of different types of coral and fish. After snorkelling we went diving!!!!! This was a thousand times better than snorkelling
.
H: Getting ready for diving was quite scary seeing as though neither marts or I had done it before, it would have been nice to try it maybe in a pool first, you know before hitting the high seas (very rough, especially with my spacka attempts at swimming!) anyway, we donned our weights, bouyancy jacket and air tank and after various attempts at getting up (the guy actually thought i was tacking the piss) he finally pushed me into the deep seas. Once we were in it was awesome, i cant believe how amazing it actually was :) we got to the bottom, it wasnt too deep, i think about 10 metres or so but the view from underneath was just worth any penny we spent! WE saw little nemos, sea cucumber, these massive tuna fish things, these pretty oyster shells that close when you go close, alive coral is just so beautiful! So yea, diving was incredible!!
After diving we went to green island which was nice but the weather was rubbish, it was good to be on land though. There was this family on the boat being hideously sick everywhere, and they didnt even go in the water! anyway, today has been AMAZING!!
M: Diving was even worth the death trip to get there and back. Those oyster things were huge, one was the size of a fridge, and purple inside. I had a great day
