Song of the Day: Baby it's Cold Outside - Glee Cast
Mumisode of the Day: Mum once again took shelter, this time in the children's cubby house in the park while we were building Burton the snowman.
The past two days have been fairly lazy. They have consisted mainly of waiting for the snow to fall, followed by watching the snow fall, followed by little sleeps, followed by eating.
Waking up in Wengen is a fantastic experience. It is so exciting to look out our windows and see how much snow has fallen overnight and what the landscape is going to look like for the day. Even more exciting yesterday morning was the news at breakfast that a massive storm was going to hit Wengen. Our hotel had even packed away the Christmas tree that sits outside on the restaurant terrace.
Given the forecast extreme weather conditions we decided to trek up the hill in hope of the heated pool. David particularly thought it would be great to be in the hot pool watching the snow fall outside. We attempted entrance to this pool at 9am and at 3pm, neither of which were successful, much to our frustration, as this was what we had planned to do for the day. David feels that it was training day at the hotel as no one seemed to have any idea what was going on.
Instead we consoled ourselves with a hot chocolate. All day we waited and waited and waited and the only precipitation we felt was rain. No snow. All day! Even worse, all the snow that had fallen the day before was melted by the rain. How outrageous!
The next day, we had more luck. In fact the snow that was forecast for the day before came in huge quantities. David has decided that he will go snow-boarding as a result of the latest 'dumping'. This is not an expression that Mum appreciates.
Gemma and Amber decided to build a snowman. They convinced Mum that she should come and help and David came to our rescue after about ten minutes. Turns out, snow is freezing and you need protective hand-gear which David had in the form of Burton gloves. Our snowman was completed after some difficulty as the snow was just 'powder'. He was named Burton in honour of the gloves that helped to construct him.
The funniest part of the day was Gemma and Amber creating snow-angels. In powder snow, you sink down a lot making it quite a challenge to stand up again! Gemma found this particularly difficult and somewhat ruined her angel sliding down the hill. The photos are hilarious.
Thus endeth the summary of the last two days. How's that for relaxing!
