BACK TO THE FUTURE
We've travelled an hour out into the Kathmandu Valley to a beautiful mountain-top village called Dhulikhel. The main lure of the village is its views of the Himalayas beyond the local mountains. The views of the mountains alone are incredible which is just as well because the weather, altough lovely, is too hazy for most of the Himalayas to be seen. Still, we did get to see one snow-capped peak so not all is lost.
We are staying in an amazing little farm house just outside the village. You can't get to it by road so we had a short trek through a valley and then along a tiny path cut into a hill. As we are a bit cut off from the rest of the village we've eaten at the farm house. The owner grows all his own food organically and his wife turns it into lovely home-cooked Nepali meals.
We've spent a few hours walking in the hills and around the village, which is populated by traditional Newari people. The local calendars have caused us a bit of confusion as the Newar class 2007 as 1127. To complicate things further the rest of Nepal are in 2064!!
Next stop Pokhara....
