Hello all,
So we've been non stop traveling its being kinda tiring but we are loving it!... so after Belize we headed to Isla Flores,Guatemala that was our next stop.. once we hit Guatemala everything changed literally it turn more green, mountains everywhere and prettier than Belize..
Pretty much we just explored the island the first day.. took a boat tour around the island and just enjoy the scenary... we decided to have an early night out with the group because the next day was an early start to explore Tikal,Guatemala.
Tikal-
We started this day on a bus journey of about 45 min to Tikal.. our tour guide did not stop talking the whole ride.. and all he kept saying was "si" at the end of every sentence which Phil thought it was better than "my firends" lol.. but we found out that he and all his family still practice the mayan religion.. so we were exited to hear more about the tour and Tikal.. on our way to the park we kept seeing signs like jaguar ahead, turkey ahead, snakes and all the jungle animals that could exist.. Phil told the driver to stop and take a group picture with the jaguar sign!
When we arrived it was just walking for 3hrs around this beatiful temples, plazas, and the mayan stadium!..
oh ps. just in case you were wondering if the end will come on Dec 21st well guess what no!.. pheww apparently Chino( the tour guide's name) said that the Mayans belive that something better will come!
After hrs of walking and climbing lots of steps.. we headed back to Flores to catch our overnight bus.
Antigua-
After our long jurney in a cramped bus we finally got to Antigua, Guatemal.. and there are no words to explain how pretty this small town is.. volcanos, mountains and finally not hot weather(Phil was very happy about that!)
Today was our last day with our first group :( , we spent 1/2 of the morning just looking for our new hotel but thank godness Alonzo (our 1st tour guide) helped us find it..
We moved all our stuff to the new hotel and arranged a goodbye lunch/drinks with our group. It was very sad to say goodbye but at the same time exicted to see what new adventures were coming for us!.
During the day we walked around the old market place and we visited the most beautiful Church. We arrived halfway through a service and we decided to stay and see the service which was in Spanish. After a while I noticed Phil was bouncing his head forward with his eyes shut. Can you believe he fell asleep in church! He said he was praying but I don't believe him.lol
After meeting our new group me and Phil decided to have a solo dinner.. we found a steak house and shared a 38 onz steak. Phil was wide eyed!
Oh and just for the record in Guatemala seems to have bad electric system that the whole town could go out with no electricity for hrs!.. luckily enough we were at a restaurant that had candles everywhere so it was easy to see!
We headed back to the hotel for a super early 4am start the next day!
Copan-
So after walking up at ridicous hr, we jumped in a bus next thing we know is that the driver was racing the whole 4hrs journey.. there was a point that I was possitive we were going to crash.. anyhow we got to Copan alive yay!
Another day of exploring the town.. this time there was not much to see but there was lots to do.. so we decided to take a horseback riding tour which it was awesome!!!
But first we decided to go to the park of birds.. this park had different birds that are typical from Honduras.. and we got to take pics with Macaws!.. not to mention that we had a quite interesting experience with a Tucan that was out of his cage.. we got so scared because the tucan thought he was a dog no joke he was following us and trying to bite Phil's feet lol!!
After that was on to ride the horses, first I was not a happy camper because the tour guide had a rope guiding my horse and I was like "hey I'm good riding horses". Anyhow the tour involved taking us around the mountains on to a small village outside Copan.. Phil obviously thought he was a cowboy.. so he was trying to gallop but little did he know that this horses are to old to do that hahah the only reason I knew is because the tour guide was talking to me the whole ride up to the village.. I mean I even got the scoope of the latest gossip in the town... while Phil was enjoying riding his horse!
When we got to the small village there were some local kids climbing on Phil to get him to buy artesans dolls.. Phil was trying to talk to them in English lol but it wasn't working.. after all this we finally got to walk around the village and let me tell you we got to see some beautiful sites!.. then we headed to see the local shop where women normally make scarfs, tablecloths etc... Phil so nice decided to donate to the village:) the lady was very happy!.. I think Phil deserves a generous medal!
On our way back to Copan, we got to see the greenery of Guatemala beautiful treesm mountains and birds.. It was just awesome!
After that we decided to have dinner and have some rest for next day exploring more Mayan ruins!
Next day in Copan was amazing we got a tour guide to the ruins of Copan this time was a little different from Tikal same walking through the jungle but this time it was easier to picture how they just to live.
I was amazed by the arquitecture beatiful big temples, houses, and more mayan stadium it is just so impressive to see how they build it. Also we got to see one of the largest steps that has written hiroglyphics of the world which is located in Copan park, every step represents their believes so basically it was the bible of the Mayans.. Pretty awesome eh!
Headed back to the town, and waited for our apparently awesome day at the spa in the jungle!... The funny part is that out of the group only the couples booked it.. lol.. We got picked up from our hotel in a hippie van again lol.. but let me tell you the main roads in Copan are not smooth at all pebbles everywhere and the van was going up and down every second it was like riding a roaller coaster!
Once we got there I only saw a pool that was scketchy not clean at all.. but the good part is about to come, so we walked on to the thermal springs.. it was awesome! mini natural pools with different temperature.. one of them was a natural feet massage apparently you do 7 times around the circle, so we decided it will be fun and relaxing ahhh noo it was pebbles and you go from hot to cold but we did it!
Then we tried almost all the pools but we only had like an hour to enjoy the spa because, they have new rules so every one needs to get out at 6:30pm.. anyhow we still enjoyed it!.
The spa also included dinner, the food was delicious but the funniest part was that the guy that was cooking said in front of everyone that I was pretty in spanish everyone understood but Phil(poor him he is trying hard to learn spanish) .. it was funny because the american couple was bantering that Phil should do something about it, but Phil was more interesting in his kebab lol!
After dinner next thing you know, no lights again but this time was scarry because there was thunderstorms and we needed to get back to Copan in the same bumpy road.. I was too tired that I felt sleep on our way back but Phil told me that there was one moment he thought the van was going to get stuck.
Back to the hotel we met with other two grils from the tour and told us that they had a group meeting and that, they had a little bit of drama regarding the transportation the next day to Roatan Island.. anyhow we were not there to capture the story but again we had and early start the next mornig.
This time Roatan Island... Carribean beach= Yvette Super duper happy!
See y'all soon!
