A late start today and had the luxury of sleeping in and reading my book for the first time - check out wasnt till 10.30 - what luxury. The main problem we have is that our trainers are still wet from being in the river 3 days ago and frankly they now hum so much I think they will be able to walk to kota Kinabalu all by themselves. Our little twin prop plane took us the short hop via Miri, then on to KK. A snazzy new airport awaited us and KK seems a lively and relatively affluent city. Our last opportunity to get cash out and make some purchases prior to more forays onto the back of beyond. In celebration of christmas eve and rebelling against our rice regime we took our tour leader, Henry's recommendation of Little Italy. Calzone never tasted so good before and a cappuccino afterwards was the icing on the cake. A quick drink in s local bar afterwards, then back to the hotel to pack our bags ready for a 5am start on Christmas day. Still cant complain too much as we're off to see the orang-utans!!
