Oh dear...slight turn for the worse out here but let's start with the good news...! We got to Siem Reap fine and checked into a guesthouse we'd booked online the previous night, we actually got a bit of a bargain as the website only let you put '1'' for the number of people in a double room so we assumed the price was per room...it isn't! However we told him we couldn't afford to pay double so we have a decent room with free breakfast, internet, bottles of water in room and a v nice pineapple smoothie welcome drink for $8/night!
It's a bit out of town but a fairly nice stroll along the river to some good souvenir-type markets and the cheapest food yet - meal and beer for less than $3. We did this in very hot humid condtions with Greg not feeling too great and had a fairly early night due to the 5.15am tuk-tuk we'd booked to take us to Angkor Wat for sunrise. However we were then both up at 2.30am with stomach cramps etc etc (you can fill in the rest)! Consequently I came down at 5.15 to cancel the tuk-tuk and re-book for tomorrow and we have stayed in room ever since! We wondered if it was the welcome drink so that we had to stay a few more nights...! Greg is worse than me, bit of a temperature etc but he is slowly getting better. He has asked me to say that although he feels 'awful' ánd wants his Mum I am doing a very good job of looking after him, despite being ill myself :-) We will definitely take it easy for the rest of the day.
We were originaly thinking of going to Battambang (old French town colonial by river) but are now having couple more days here before returning to Phnom Penh and heading north to Laos. Apologies for the recent lack of photos, not many computers seem to have Java here and we couldn''t download it at the last place. We're bound to have loads after Angkor so put some time aside!!
Love to everyone thanks for the messages
