Well the last month or so have been a nice chill out, with a few important things done in between….
Firstly, and most importantly, we had our wedding in Livingstone (Victoria Falls) in Zambia - a very nice day indeed, although a little warm for Greg.We also had a couple of days of great game watching floating down the Chobe river (saw three of the big five), and stared at monkeys and hippos in the Zambesi for many mornings as well.Accompanied by an abundance of fantastic food. This was all complemented well by a lovely week in Mozambique - again, not much to report other than having many cocktails, and seafood. The only real dramas were Greg's full body sunburn, partial electrocution whilst making a nice cup of tea, and attack by a wasp (both Greg as well).
We also took in Johannesburg for a couple of days - interesting place with a fair amount of quite remarkable history.A drive through downtown Jo-burg is quite an eye opener - think Escape from New York or 28 Days Later.Lots of empty smashed out 1970s style government buildings, with refugees squatting in super skyscrapers.
We had the chance to head back to New Zealand and Australia for some quick quality time with family and friends (and to drop off Alyssa's wedding dress), and then as quickly as we have arrived, we departed the down under lands for the USA, the long way round via Abu Dhabi, Paris and Toronto - the reason for this route will become clear with future entries….
