Wednesday 22.06.2011 - we left Amsterdam and decided to ride through the Dutch countryside on the way to our digs at Stadskanaal about 35 kms west of Assen. The ride through the countryside was great, we even saw a windmill! We were forced to stop and wait while four yachts went through a canal to reach the Dutch inland sea. Monday 20.06.2011 - we rode out of Whitby in glorious sunshine and headed the 65 miles south to Hull where we would board our ferry, The Spirit of Rotterdam for the overnight voyage to the Hook of Holland. Saturday 18.06.2011 - we left Morpeth under the threat of heavy rain, so the weather forcaste said. We decided to detour west slightly towards Hexham to visit the best preserved part of what is left of Hadrians Wall, the barrier the Romans built in the second century AD and abandoned in the 5th century, to keep the Scots at bay. Friday 17.06.2011 - with a very clean bike we continued our southward journey and bid farewell to Scotland, beautiful Scotland. Thursday 16.06.2001 - We packed up and said our goodbyes to Chris in the carpark of our hotel as he was heading west from Inverness to ride the Isle of Skye before heading to Ireland for two weeks.
