Day 36 to 41 Flying Fish Point
So day 35 we left Wakermin after saying good bye to all our friends and neighbours after a wonderful 7 days here and headed for Flying Fish Point where we will stay also stay for 7 nights before heading for Kurrimine Beach.
So the next day we headed into Innisfail to have a look around ,not a bad place but you can see it is getting run down as about 20% of the shops are closed. A gentleman we were talking to said it was because of the problems in the sugarcane market, it has also brought down the house prices.
The river front is very nice and the old church and historic buildings are well kept.
As for Flying Fish Point we love it and could easily live here as it reminds us of how Redland Bay was when we first moved there many many years ago. Each day we do a long walk and have met some really nice people, the whole place fills like it is on the water front and at the northern end we have seen a house we would love to buy $430000. The water front is your back yard; mind you it cost around $4000 a year to insure your home because of the weather they get in this part of the world. The other problem to me is they have a 4 Mitre Crocodile that inhabits this cost line.
The people in the park are very friendly (with a few that use the park each year and think they own it), and one of the fisherman came over with some fish for us the other day.
We also had happy hour on Wednesday night with the entire caravaners turning up for drinks and a feed of Red Claw that the fisherman had caught.
Then on Saturday night we had Christmas in July that started at 6pm but if you wanted to try and get on the regulars table you would have to get there by about 2 in the afternoon, anyway in was a great night with Ham, Pork, Pumpkins and potatoes and gravy then desserts for afters and then Santa came with presents, along with live music good company lots of drink we had a fantastic night.
We also after going around and seeing the entire place we headed up to Ella Bay a Beautiful place but you are now unable to drive up to the point as it has become private property and we were told that is because whoever owns it wants to build a resort there . So we went down to the water were there were men fishing and a couple with a dog in the water so me being me I asked them if they were scared of the crocodile the roams this area, and there response was "That's why we take the dog with us "Sandie was very happy to be in the car when I told her.
I forgot to mention this place has a lot of Wallaby's and wild life. This is our second visit here and I will come back a wonderful place and a place I would tell anyone to visit.
So we have packed away a few things as we are off tomorrow, So we will be at Kurrimine next time we chat .
I hope all you Sundowners are having the time of your life
