Men's triathlon today. M Ian and I went whilst H went to the Tadescant garden over Westminster Bridge and to Westminster garden and Museum. All had great time. We managed to find a sport where we could see the track and the Big Screen so were able to see the whole event Really really good atmosphere with everyone supporting all the athletes but when Team GB got Gold and Bronze the sky was lifted off the park!! Thoroughly enjoyable tour of Buckingham Palace State Rooms then tour of the private gardens. Lovely sunny day and H managed to negociate a lift on a golf buggy so I hitched a lift!! A good rest for the feet after all the walking. The rooms were very impressive. The Diamond collection stupendous and the gardens delightful. M and Ian went in heavy rain to watch the women's Marathon. H and I waited til the rain eased and went to pick up some food. In the afternoon Ian and I went to the Tate for a couple of hours. Very interesting Turner exhibition in particular. Lovely meal at the very buzzy Ivy in the evening.

M and H off at crack of dawn to travel to Eton for the Olympic rowing. We were not far behind to walk to Hyde Park for the women's triathlon. Managed glimpses of the swimming. Excellent cycling views and a little of the running. Again lovely atmosphere and crowds of people who applauded everyone. Morning shopping and organising meal for tonight. Walked to Buckingham Palace in time for an amazing tour of the State Rooms which were in credibly over the top and impressive as they were designed to be. The Special Display this year is The Queens Diamonds. A magnificent showing of some of her personal jewels. Lovely intimate touches like the padding on the tiaras to stop them digging in!
