Grace's Adventures!
Hello again! Just a quickie to let you know what I have been up to in the wonderful Byron Bay! The first night was such a good laugh - we all met in a bar/club called Cheeky Monkeys and had some food, and then our bus driver said it was our responsibility to get the party started and we have to be as loud as possible to get free drinks - we were singing really loud at about 8 and dancing on the tables by 9 - apparantly that doesn't usually happen until at least 10 so we did really well! We missed out on loads of givaways though as they couldn't do it as we were all the stages/tables - oops! Danced all night long, the music was brilliant! Got bus back to my campsite/hostel as they are every 5 mins after 10 how cool is that!
Did hardly anything the next day - mostly looked around the many funky hippie/surfy shops that are here and bought some 'boardies' (board shorts) they are cool. Randomly met people from my bus in town. Had a quiet night, made a little fire and played some games (no drink though!) will the lads in the campsite.
The lads left in the morning, and I went snorkelling out by some rocks in the bay - was so clear, I saw so many beautiful tropical fish and a starfish and a stingray! Somw people saw a turtle and a (harmless) shark but I didnt! Oh well. It was really fun going out there on the boat and met some nice people. Then I met Ellie and we went to a cool shop where you make your own beaded necklace! Then we went to my hostel where a really funny guy who has a cockatoo on his shoulder did a little walk about and told us all about different wildlife and bush food and medicinal uses of plants, how to make string from plants and how to throw a spear - he was well cool! It was free too! (Donation though). Later on I went to the Buddha bar (in my hostel) and there were people playing the guitar and singing - really good! I chatted to some random people then met Ellie at Cheeky Monkeys and we had a good boogie again (minus the drinks this time!) Everyone from our bus was there but they didnt really speak to us because they are arrogant! Also new oz bus was there, and they didnt start dancing at 9 like we did so loads of them got to win prizes in fun games! We then went to a pub with a live band and I saw a girl I met on the Melbourne to Sydney bus about 3 weeks ago - how mad! Nice to catch up!
Now I am about to go surfing yay - free surf board hire from Ellies hostel yay! Then may go to my hostel pool, and later in the Buddha bar there is a talent show! It's a hard life eh! Bye for now!
