So, here I am. My last full day/night of my travels!
Sydney was really good fun. Lucy and I did a lot of shopping and stayed with her cousin in the last week which was really nice as we got well looked after. On the last few days in Sydney we got very pampered. Lucy's aunt paid for us both to get our hair done, mine was a complete mess as I had just left it for 4 months and the sun sea and sand had taken its toll. So now I've had it done it looks much better! We also had manicures AND pedicures, so I'm all well groomed for when I get home. (Particularly as my feet have been wearing flip flops for 4 months!).
Lucy left on Friday, so I spent the day all aloonneee....then left for Singapore on Saturday morning. Singapore is very nice, it's quite westernised (which is probably good for me as I don't speak a word of Malaysian!). The weather, however is unbelievable. It's SO humid and hot, I have never sweated so much. I really don't know how people live here and I don't know how dad survived for as long as he did when he was here!
Yesterday I strolled around Little India for the afternoon which was very interesting ad had some great little temples. However, walking around Singapore I seem to get stared at quite a lot. Probably because I'm so pale and white! I've also noticed that most people in Singapore are TINY so I'm much taller than most of them which must make me look even stranger.
Today I went into a Mosque in Little India which was beautiful. I had to wear a robe as my arms and legs were showing and the young man who worked there seemed to take a fancy to me and kept asking me if he could take me out! I politely declined of course!
I then went to China Town which was really busy and really hot. I went to the Heritage museum which was interesting. It was all about Chinese immgrants in Singapore and it was set out really well. I also went to the Malay Heritage museum this morning which was fascinating as I knew nothing about the malays prior to that.
I had some lovely food in China Town before going to the Thian Hock Theng Temple which was gorgeous. It was a shrine to the goddess Ma Po Cho, the goddess of the sea who allows immigrants and sailors to travel safely.
It was adorned with gold statues and incense sticks everywheer and it was really cool to see the people praying to the various gods and goddesses.
Tonight I'll stay in and prepare for my flight tomorrow, but it isn't until midnight so tomorrow I'll probably go and check out the famous Singapore shopping Malls and maybe go to the museum...
