Quiet? - nope, Calm? - nope. Hot? -yup. Great? -yup, yup.
This is a very quick note to tell everyone (Dad, Keith), I am safe. I am on a pay Internet machine and It is ticking away....... Easy journey yesterday - long day out of Beijing and then a5 hour flight here and most of you couldn't imagine what this place looks like but I actually found my little guest house, down 50 lanes about 6 feet wide - in the DARK!!!! Maybe I am getting a sense of direction????
Oops - only minutes left. I will finish my China entry and give you a sense of Thailand so far later as the mouse is stuck to the table??? Coconut Juice spill?????
Jan - thanks so much for the itinerary - please come and take me there???? I am going to figure that one out over the next couple of days but I know it sounds great - secluded and I would love to meet your friends. Tara and Rich - I might be coming South so get some Gripe Water for those kids and I am certainly not taking Sydney to the mall in Kaula Laumpur!!!!!!

I am heading out today to ride the sky train around, hop on and off public long tail bus transport, up and down the canals and just et a sense of direction.

So weird - it is nearly 24 years to the day that I was here last. Les, we looked like all the other girls here in this guest house - fresh scrubbed and so eager and brave.....shh to go back and get to do it again.

Hey _ i just read about Dave Ingeborg's cancer and impending death!!!! We cops don't seem to be lasting too long so I am SO happy to be here - living large. It is so beautiful - wild and busy and crazy, but has an immediacy to the energy that is hard to describe to those unfamiliar to Asian street life.

My guest house is unbelievable - yes Wit - as good or better. Includes full breakfast - just finished - fab, and I have a balcony, a little terrace and a pretty big single room with a big bathroom. Sparkling clean and $20 bucks US. The exchange is crappy but.....it is what it is.

All of you with money or miles.......come on over.......I am able to meet you anywhere cause that is where I am going.

I am still digesting China. WOW! Never had any desire to go there and now I think I want to go back as soon as it warms up - just the politics alone has filled my head and will for a long while. Huge thanks to Wit - lots of long discussions on the changing face of China and how that is happening - fascinating.
