It's cold in Boquete, and very very beautiful. the sun shines during rainfall over the volcano, the wind blows hot and the weather changes by the minute. Bizarro weather - very difficult to dress for the day. Just a few miles down the road it is very hot and very dry - up here in the mountains, green and lush and cold. Today is Saturday and many of the idigenous people come in from the countryside where they still live very simple lives - some of them coffee pickers, some farmers. The market was filled with families all scrubbed and in their best outfits - big day in the big town!
Boquete was on my 'maybe' list of places to retire so I am happy to have come up and seen it. Just too cold for me and I hate wind so it has now been crossed off my list. It has a pretty big expat community - mostly Americans and Canadians. A realtor took us out and showed us some really nice gated communities. Prices are very reasonable - that is the draw and some love the cool mountain mist....me? Not so much, but it is beautiful, especially the flowers and I can see why others have fallen in love with it.
