Awoke feeling great, no swollen feet, well hydrated and feeling well rested after that long flight.
I went down to the restaurant for breakfast. I could be in any hotel, anywhere in the world. A huge breakfast bar with every choice imaginable and the only difference would be the waiters carrying huge trays around at shoulder level and singing as they work. People of all nationalities coming and going, old, young, men and women, some very casual and some dressy, a few men on their own and a few women on their own, so I am not feeling at all out of place. There's a young couple sitting in front of me - she is daintily eating Danish Pastries, while he plays with her hair and nibbles at her fingers, before they have a huge passionate kiss and walk away groping and embracing each other. OMG at breakfast time!! Yep, I know, just jealous.
9.27am
Anxious Moment No 2: Back from breakfast, and I am having the same IT problems I have had on every trip - My wee lap top works perfectly at home, but when I am away it has dificulty opening the documents I have already created. Oh well, will just have to open a new one every time.
My Kindle fell out of my bag and onto the tile floor during the night, and this morning I can't get it to go. Buggar - I was reading a great book and I don't want to use my iPhone as it uses a lot of battery. I am already charging my iPhone for the second time since I got here. So will just have to manage without a book today. And the mouse won't work on the lap top. It was working at home, it has power but not working.
And then I discovered the iPhone is not charging and is only 61% charged. OMG I am sure it was much easier travelling in the 1970s without all this hi-tech stuff. We just wrote a diary and took slides!! But then all of a sudden it dawned on me, I took my key-card out of the power slot when I went down to breakfast and didn't put it back in when I came back to the room. Yehaa....... Problem solved, phone now charging.
Rule No 1: Remember Heather, think things through. Talk to yourself if you have to, and the answer will come to you. All good - 1 out of 3 problems solved and it's only 10.00am. And on the positive side - I am not having any problems transferring my photos off either phone to my lap top. Thank goodness something is working as it should be.
Now I'm off to find a pyramid - I have practiced taking selfies in my room and Rowan wants a photo of me in front of the pyramid. I had a quick phone call from him this morning, I kept an eye on the length as it is a dollar a minute for an incoming call. The website for this hotel shows looking out bedroom windows onto a pyramid, but of course I am on the wrong side of the hotel. Might have known that would happen. So now I need to go and find the view.
And I will go and investigate the spa and beauty parlour. Could do with some pampering after all those wee anxious moments.
So I spent the morning relaxing by the pool with the pyramid right in front of me. It is lovely and warm, with a nice cool breeze blowing gently keeping it a very comfortable temperature.
The water looks inviting, but amidst all these scantily clad women, I am hesitant to indulge. Maybe tomorrow when Linda is here.
I have already had my first "chat-up" Another hotel shopkeeper - gorgeous, young, gift of the gab, (aren't they all the same) but it brightens my day and keeps me smiling. Certainly good for the ego. He's got a lovely shop selling perfume and other Egyptian souvenirs. Might buy a camel off him for the boys.
I've booked a massage at the spa for midday tomorrow - I couldn't get one today, and then went back to the pool to have lunch. A club sandwich and fries and a glass of fresh mango juice. Delicious.
