Day 13 - Cooinda, Kakadu Yellow Waters Sunrise cruise and Nourlangie Merv set the alarm for 5:45am so we would be at the bus stop at 6:20. Day 12 - Gunlom to Cooinda, Kakadu Merv told me I had to drive out today - he didn't want to do the slow drive again. We packed up and were on the road by 9am. It took me 1 3/4 hours to drive the 37km. The road was still corrugated. A few cars passed us but there were 4 caravans going in at about the same speed we were travelling. Day 11 - Tuesday 3rd July Gunlom, Kakadu It was good to sleep in and not have to pack up and get on the road. It was nice and quiet over night. We had a leisurely breakfast and then did the walk to the top of the falls. There are three plunge pools at the top and people are swimming. Day 10 - Elsey, Mataranka to Gunlom, Kakadu We packed up and left Elsey national park by 9am, getting petrol in Mataranka $1.67 a litre. Coming into Katherine about 10am there is a lot of traffic. We stopped in Katherine to get some groceries. There are a lot of indigenous people, and cars with caravans. There is a good shopping centre and supermarket. Day 9 - Banka Banka to Mataranka 1st July 2012 We had a leisurely start to the day because it is shorter than yesterday. We were on the road at 9:10am.
