Hello Everyone,
Ok so finally we got out of Phuket which to be honest was a massive relief as the place just smelt bad and there was little2nothing to do...unless you fancied a 30minute bus ride to the beach which unfortunately we missed out on but anyway doesn't matter now as Koh phi phi was just incredible.
We got the ferry from Phuket over to phi phi which is possibly the most beuatiful place ever...unfortunately it has been a bit spoilt by the nightlife being a bit like an up market Magaluf but still quite funny to witness. We arrived fresh off the boat and once again the leeches start hassling as to where you want to stay. Once we worked our way through the crowds we got found a little guesthouse close to the pier and beach which was handy but well overpriced for what it was. Unfortunately they like to over charge in Phi phi due to its popularity. The guesthouse we stayed in was basically a hole in the wall with rooms that were decorated with fake wooden panels for walls, which had gaps between them so we could hear everything and anything. The air con looked like something out the 16th century (yes i know they didn't have aircon then but you get the idea) and our hostel host was happily sitting at reception smoking a nice spliff. Clearly he was too off his face to care about the decor of his establishment...
The beaches were just gorgeous as you will see from my pictures...we spent the first night there doing a bit of a bar crawl but as it was the kings birthday was relatively quiet as everywhere has to shut early. We had heard horror stories about it being a bit of a party town but for all the wrong reasons so were pleasantly surprised when it wasn't chav city. However that all changed the following night when all the rif raf were out with their flyers and free shots (you get the idea)! We spent our first day just chilling on the beach and trying to get some sort of base colour. The following day however was my hightlight! We hired out a private long tailed boat for ridiculously cheap money and had a little 6 stone thai man sail us around all the islands surrounding Phi Phi. We visited a little cove bit where we did some snorkelling and saw some gorgeous fish, then continued on to maya bay where the film the beach was filmed. I am telling you it is the most beautiful place in the world and if i could live there I would! Afterwards we went on to Monkey beach which was just inrecdible, there were moneksy in all the trees and on the beach and you could go and feed them bananas. That was probably my favourite part as the monkeys are wild too and was amazing to see how them.
We ended up drinking a little to much in nphi phi just due to the party atmosphere. They have a variety of bars such as the rock bar where a live thai band played lots of well known rocky stuff which i have to say was well done. We then went to a magaluf style bar full of thai women being chatted up by gross western men. The girls were out of control not to mention the pervy men ranging from all ages getting involved with the thai women. Overall Phi phi was an amazing stop and I would recommend to anyone if you don't mind the nutty nightlife, however there are always options if you want to avoid such places. We went to a place called relax bar which little areas on stilts to sit and drink with cushions and it wasn't too crazy there!
This was all a bit rushed but thought I should give another update - sorry if its a little dull but internet is not free and we are trying to keep spending down to minimum! We are now in krabi for the night before we head up to bangkok on our VIP bus (which i haggled the price down and got a fiver off our tickets ....sweeeeet) (a fiver is a lot over here by the way! ha).
Until then fare well!
