Sydney Take Two- Xmas and New Year
After Melbourne me and Chloe flew back to Sydney to book into our hotel and to meet up with the girls again! It seemed like we had been away for ages, and when we returned to Coogee it was strange because everything was exactly the same, it seemed like a home from home! We also met up with Lynn and Michelle from Oz intro and all bought Xmas cowboy hats and headed for the botanical gardens for the GMTV show from Sydney! It was mad how many people were there. It got to the stage where we all nearly fell down the hill because everyone was piling forward to get on the television! After a few takes we gave up and went for pizza near the harbor.
The next few days were spent shopping before Xmas and then there was the big night out on Xmas Eve, where we all got far too drunk on goon and headed out in Kings cross! That is pretty much all I can say about that night as I have trouble remembering much more! On Xmas day I was ill and spent the day in bed watching Planet Earth on television and some random Xmas films. I really didn't mind not going to the beach because it was a very weird day and definitely didn't feel like Xmas it was strange! On boxing day despite still being ill we went to the races at Randwick! It was international day so if you showed your passport you got in for free! We all put a kitty together and ended up winning 60 bucks which was pretty cool! It was such a hot day, but it was a really nice atmosphere and we bumped into a few more people from the first week in Oz!We went back to the hotel, got food and crashed out like old granny's- we were so tired!
Between Xmas and New Year we headed into the city a few more times, had our hair done at a top salon and had drinks in Darling Harbour. We also visited Manly on the ferry and spent the day on the beach, which was lovely, and watched yet another film at the cinema; I think it was a novelty being in a big city again!
Then came the big day of New Years Eve! We got up at 8am and headed with our cool bags to the botanical gardens to get a good view for the fireworks. However when we go there at 9.30am and expected to walk straight in the park, we were surprised to see a queue of over 15,000 people already waiting in the blistering heat! We stood in line for over 4 hours just to get in the park, set up base with our bags, beach towels and food etc all prepared for another eleven hour wait! It was such a nice day with everyone together, and the hours seemed to pass really quickly! There must have been over 50,000 people in the park it was so busy, but our view was awesome, we could see the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge from where we were so when the fireworks came to bring in the New Year it was fantastic! I have never seen fireworks like it! They were unbelievable! It was so strange to be celebrating the new year a day before home though, and nobody knew the words to Auld Lang's Syne which was weird; New Year just isn't the same without people mumbling what they think are the words while being blind drunk! We were all sober by the end and headed home after being out for the entire day in the sun. It was definitely a day I will always remember!
