so we are still in Noosa (getting a little bit bored of it now though) and still trying to work out what to do next, basically there is pretty much nothing going on between here and Brisbane, and apparently Brisbane is not exactly 'happening' as the kids would say.
On the up side, yesterday we went to the late Steve Irwin's zoo - Australia Zoo, and we had a brilliant day!! As always Sarah was getting all excited the night before, packing her little bag with her My little pony lunchbox and a 4 pack of Ribena's (not blackcurrant though!!) and could barely sleep ..... although that may be due to the excrutiating heat in our room, (no air-con just a fan that blows the hot air around) you literally drip with sweat all night long, and need a shower as soon as you wake!!
We were up early the to get to the bus station for our 8.30 bus. We hopped on and made the 55 min journey whilst being entertained by some Steve Irwin documentaries ..... Then we arrived!!! Steve's face is plastered absolutely all over the place (the highway that the zoo is on is named after him) they absolutely love him here!!!! Our first stop was straight to the Cuddle a koala session, where Sar paid an amount of Ozzie dollars to hold a koala and have a pic taken with him. I dont think she would want you to know but she was shakin with nerves before she held it ... either that or exitement!! ahhh bless her, she's not that tough!!!!! Just a little girl in a big girl's suit!!!
We then wondered around and saw a few of the famous crocs that have appeared on his shows throughout the years, before settling in to the crocoseum to watch 3 consecutive animal shows - one with snakes, one with birds and the best one - the croc show. The croc show was really cool, the guy had him swimming around in this clear pool, and lunging out to claim bits of meat, showcasing the crocs speed and power and dispelling some myths about their speed when on land - about 2 mph, not 20mph as some ppl think.
After that we went thorugh the 2 roo Heaven areas, on e for grey and one for red. Here the kangaroos just hop about a big area and you can walk up to them and feed them, stroke them, kick them (only joking!!) but it was really cool, there was one roo that just kept going mental and bouncing around the whole place (whilst getting chased by some annoying kids!!).
After that we saw a whole load of koalas and got to stroke another one! Other attractions were feeding some Indian elephants by hand, dingos, tassie devils, camels, snakes, wombats, lizards and a few more. Perhaps the most entertaing was the tiger temple, where 3 of their tigers were playing in the swimming pool with their keeper. He was runnign around with toys for them trying to get them to do spectacular dives into the pool, but i think they fabcied a day off, and only did one in about 45 mins!! But it was cool to see them swimming around and jumping on the keepers head - very amusing!!
Then it was back to the bus for our journey back, a smoothie, supper, a bit of tv (yep in this hostel we have our own tv for our room [and you guessed it neighbours and home and away are on as much as poss, and some tennis for me]) and some sleep in the sauna ... bedroom to you at home!
Now we are deciding where to go and whether to pull our flight to NZ a bit closer?? Will keep you updated
