Amanda's Adventures
We're in Pushkar today. I have just had a Pooja ceremony by the holy lake in the centre, so now I have a blood red bindhi on my forehead and a red peice of string wrapped around my right wrist (because I'm not married yet). It was very interesting to be blessed in this way and apparently now I have some good Karma (which I need!) and will live until I'm 100 ( well I've always said that I would).
Its a very religious place as all the Hindu's come here to pray for their dead, in the same way as the do at the river Ganges.
We spent some very time in a small village called Chandelao which is very remote and the people were welcoming. Its a thrill for the kids to see pale tourists so we feel very important. They go mad and wave at us where ever we go and they all ran out of school cheering as we drove past. We went on a (very bumpy) jeep safari out into the nearby villages to see a weaver and potter at work- it was very interesting and they work ever so hard.
