After one night in a cheapy cheap guesthouse in Hua Hin, our wonderful friends decided that we had to be with them in the Anatara - needless to say we lept at the chance for some 5* luxury and it was so lovely being with such a big group hanging by the pool, sipping cocktails and making full use of the facilities!
Fish and Poum's wedding on Sunday was incredible. The day started at 8.30am with a parade of the groom's party lead by a baby elephant and some Thai dancers, followed by a Buddist ceremony. It was really interesting to see how different a Thai wedding was compared to an English one! After a yummy lunch we had a couple of hours of free time. Rach and I made full use of the infinity pool and then changed into new outfits for the western cermony and reception at the Hyatt. The weather was very kind (everyone agreed (particularly the groom) that they had never been so hot at a wedding before) and the cermony on the beach was beautiful. The evening was really good fun with a fantastic band who even played our Lady Gaga requests!!! By way of total coincidence as part of "Massive Monday" (TM) in Bangkok last night we ended up in Brick Bar to see the same band on stage! Another funny moment was guessing which of the guests had been at the Thai ceremony as a man... and at the Western ceremony as a woman... After the reception finished we all headed to a bar with the bride and groom in their wedding tuktuk ("Just Merried") for a few hours of kareoke!
Rachel, Rols, Nev, Tom, Sally, T and I have now arrived in Ko Phi Phi after "Massive Monday" in Bangkok last night. We definitely "did" all that the Koh San Road has to offer (in the way of bars at least!) We were very sad to say goodbye to everyone yesterday (120 guests at the wedding and a good number of them from the UK) although Fish and Poum and Fish's family will be joining us in Ko Phi Phi tomorrow. Absolutely shattered after a crazy few days and really looking forward to some chill time on the beach :-)
P.S. Having a bit of difficulty uploading the photos from Hua Hin (there are an awful lot of them) at this computer so will find somewhere else later on!
