The twin towns of Agnes Water and 1770 are not so much "towns" more just a collection of buildings on another stretch of beautiful Queensland coast.I am staying in Southern Cross which is almost like a mini-resort with a much needed pool and large communal area. After a totally uneventful bus journey (the highlight was watching Cool Runnings) where I caught up with a lot of people that I had met in Noosa, Southern Cross was a great spot to chill, watch some live music (courtesy of VanJam.com.au - who had also been in Byron) and jump in the pool.
Yesterday, I tried to stay cool at Southern Cross and popped into "town" to check out the beach and have a last swim in the ocean without a stinger suit!In the afternoon I rode my first ever motorbike, with Scooteroo.About 50 of us cruising the streets of Agnes Water/1770 on choppers - so much fun and no accidents as far as I am aware! We saw lots of huge kangaroos and stopped in 1770 (so called because that is the year that Captain Cook landed here - his 2nd stop) to eat wedges and watch a great sunset over the water.
Today was another fairly chilled one after sorting out my next few days, before the overnight bus up to Airlie Beach. I did manage a 2 hour sunset bike ride with a German girl who I had originally met in Byron (nice way to tire me out before the bus), all good until the chain broke on one of the bikes, we started walking back and were luckily rescued by Stefan from Scooteroo in the van! It is a slightly strange feeling that I am now booked up to 15 March and I leave Australia in less than a months' time!
