A minor set back but we'll be back on the road tomorrow! After a frustrating couple of days searching Gent and being sent on a wild goose chase to Mastericht (Holland) for a suitable replacement bike for George, we've been rescued by some friends from Brussels - Katharina and Conrad and their four children - Anna, August, Louise and Donata. Katharina has spent the day driving us all around various bike shops, and eventually we've found a suitable bike in Germany...

We are in Gent. We planned to be in Holland by now, but just after we set off this morning George had a run-in with a bollard. George escaped uninjured (he claims he performed a front sumasault landing on his feet, like a persian cat...) The banter bike crumpled on impact and we fear is irrepairable. As it is a national holiday today, all shops are shut, so we have had an enforced rest day and plan to visit it the best bike shop in town bright and early tomorrow ...
