Well It's arrived. Washings done, house clean, lawns cut and fertilised, irrigation checked, rubbish bins out, tea to have. Drop into our daughter's on the way to the airport...... Check in 9pm. Last minute bag checks and packing which has now been completed unless Helen finds some things I have forgotten. Because of our interrupted travel (Dropping into Singapore on the way to line up some accommodation for the trip at the end of the year) I have been very conscious of not forgetting Visas, flight plans and "New" US Dollars for the Myanmar side of the trip. Brad and Greg from ABM are both arriving about six hours before us in Yangon on Tuesday, and I can see the process through the airport may take a little bit longer than, at say, Manila International, when we've travelled with Reachout. Have taken an old 2G/3G phone, as mobiles are starting to become usable in Myanmar and possibly outside the cities. Brad has advised that we change some Singapore or Australian dollars at the money changers at the airport into local currency for everyday use. The US Dollars(Trying to keep them "schmick".... looks like toy money) will be used to pay for all our accommodation and some of the cultural experiences. Notes have to be recent and in good condition and beware the trader who wants to give you crumpled notes in return.... they may be unusable at your next transaction
I haven't heard from all the pilgrims so assuming some are away and so won't be linked in to follow the trip.... the foretaste of what is to come. Please pray for Helen, Brad, Greg and I as we seek to put together a trip that will be significant for us all and for the people God is moving us to get to know and to work with.
