We are under so much pressure here that today meant forcing ourselves to have a Thai massage. One hour later, you are left wondering, why something that now feels so good, hurt so much at the time.
Life has been a little bit cruisey..... breakfast at 10 am... which is planned because if its a wet morning, people hang around breakfast for hours, so by 10 you can actually get a seat as the rain stops and the procession to the pool area begins. After breakfast, a solid 30 second debate about what to do beside reading and relaxing and so we decide to relax and read. Reading the funniest triology at the moment starring a dtective called Skulduggery Pleasant... my e-reader tells me I only need another 10 hours to finish reading the triology.
Yesterday we caught the bus into the markets. Prior to crossing the road we visited the International Tsunami Memorial Park and Museum. Australia features highly in its involvement and in the documentaries being presented.
And then to the markets. They run three days a week, 3-7. Clothing and food!!!!!!!!!
Freshly cut watermelon to munch on as we walked around. Then chose our own meat on screwers that was barbecued in front of us and served at a very simple restaurant, and topped off with (including a return visit.... tempted to go for a third) Thai custard donuts. They were the lightest yummiest donuts. The level of German tourism is extremely high and all tours, brochures etc have both English and German as a matter of course.
We had a bit of time to kill so we sampled a local version of iced coffees. Proved to be the closest to what we have expected in Western Food descriptions. A beef sandwich the other day was a small peta pouch with cold beef, lettuce and mayonaise, cut in half. Asking if it was hot was perceived as a request for chilli.
Ate tea last night at the beachside cafe and it was lovely with the waves crashing on the beach in the background.
Today we booked in for our tours.
Monday Kho Sok National Park..... not too early start (8.50) with elephants(Yes, Rebecca...... Dad on Elephants), bamboo rafting, swimming under waterfalls and a monkey temple...with monkeys.
Wednesday an early start (7.10) out to James Bond Island, paddling through ocean caverns, floating villages for lunch. Both those days will have better weather than we are having..... but, you know what, you live with it and get on with it.
