Hello everyone,
We have only had two days here as this place is very small and have just been around the ruins of the old city. We stayed in the new city. We got to the town at 1am on Thursday and had to get a Samalaw (backwards tricycle with an engine) to the hotel. This was very weird and very cold but woke us up. The journey was only 5mintues.
We woke up the next day and wandered around town. Very different from anywhere else and not much to do but the main reason we came here was because of the old city ruins and not for the new city. The bus to the Old City was very strange. It was very different but great fun. Once at the Old city we hired two mountain bikes as it’s huge to walk around. The bikes were ok although didn’t have any gears but it was all flat. Bikes in this weather are hard work. The ruins are amazing and very fascinating. Gemma got told off by a guide for apparently going to sit on a stone Buddha, but she wasn’t going to anyway. Darren took the mickey out of her after that. It was very funny. There are five parts to the city. Central, North, East, South and West. We decided to do the central as this was the biggest and then did the North which was nice. To do the whole park would take ages. We were also very hot and couldn’t ride anymore so we decided to finish at that. Most of the ruins are all much the same so we decided we weren’t missing out on much.
We saw some amazing sunsets from our room as you can tell from the photos. Well that’s pretty much it from Sukhothai. We will be boarding a coach soon to go to Phuket via Bangkok. Its a coach during the day to Bangkok and then an overnight one down to Phuket.
Speak to you all then
Lots of love Gemma and Darren xxx xxx
