Our Year at Home
We have spent two days recovering form the very long flight by site seeing in a chilly Chile. The hotel is very pleasant in good central location. We are on the 20th floor with a lovely view! Peter spent a lot of time watching the builders working.
Saturday afternoon while walking back to the hotel for a rest we were surprised to see a hundred or so Zombies walking down one of the main streets. Not something you expect. We think it was something to do with the TV programme The Walking Dead which has been released in Latin American countries and is obviously quite popular.
An enterprising street entertainer cashing in on the Chilean miners episode talked Lesley into having her photo taken with him. Next day she was befriended by the Santiago Ford Model T car owners club who were having a regular meet in town. They were quite content admiring each others cars and were impressed to hear of our plans to travel in a Land Rover
Santiago is a typical Latin American city, with the government buildings based around a plaza, the original old buildings being surrounded by some very modern office blocks and apartments.
Sunday we took the 'Hop on Hop off' bus trip to have a good look around the city. The locals we met all seem very friendly and helpful, one even thought Lesley was Spanish when she started talking to him.
We are off first thing Monday to get the plane to Easter Island. Good job to as we are having to keep a low profile in the Hotel tonight, as we think we set off the hotel fire alarm. The rooms have a small kitchen area and a toaster and strangely smoke detectors in the rooms, not a good combination. We of course denied it all!.

Kim Hey Lesley, glad to see that youv already made friends - mostly men I see! Lucky Peter isnt the jealous type LOL! U look really great - travelling is obviously suiting you.
James Surprised Peter isn't down there with them pointing out an alternative way to get the job done much better, like we do in England!
Simon B Pete: Are you getting withdrawals from work by setting off fire alarms. So when you are retired you sit around and watch others work. Great updates and to see your progress, take care.
