hey!! in Kuala Lumpar at the moment...arrived yesterday and dumped our stuff in the hotel (kinda fun getting used to hotels rather than hostels now!! definately a seasoned traveller now!!) ; ) so we headed straight out and got to Times Squar - a central building in the city and the biggest mall ever!! so big that it has the worlds biggest indoor rollercoaster in it!! after a local lunch of chicken noodles, we all headed into the theme park and acted like kids for the afternoon! not very cultural but still great fun, especailly as it was teeming it down with rain outside!! made it back in time to get ready and meet the rest of the groupo to head to Chinatown for a local dinner in the craziness of the famous Kuala Lumpar night markets. i managed to eat my first ever meal with chopsticks! not a bad first attempt even though i say it myself!! ; ) our tour guide took us to a local bar called The Reggae Bar where we sold a mix of drinks for the Malay equivalent of about 80p!!! it was definately a good night and the final 3 (me included! yey!) ; ) taxiied home about 2am. had an earlier start this morning cos we wanted to get in the first 1400 tickets to go up to famous Petronas Towers that stand 452metres above the city. to get some more local culture we all made it to the local craft market and watched one of our group members paint a silk collage. we all had our photos taken too to appear in the next leaflet!! famous already!! ; ) made it back to the towers for our appointment up the tower. the views were stunning and the building is pretty awesome!! we took the best pictures of the group all jumping up on the bridge that links the two towers together...much to the amusement of the other visitors!! ; ) after cheating a little and taking pictures of pictures for the best views, we safely made it back to the ground and saw an entourage of posh cars carrying members of the Bahrain Kingdom!! good timing!! this afternoon we walked the streets of the mad city and had great fun risking our lives each time we crossed the jammed roads! we are going up to new heights tonight heading up the sky tower and checking out more of the night life and markets. tomorrow we head out further up and onto the cameron islands! looking forward to that but it will be really weird to experience cooler weather for a few days...its crazy hot here; just so intense! i definately walk in the shade now at all available points!! ; ) oh and this is crazy but guess what i saw as we first drove into malaysia...tesco!!! not even funny!! was tempted to go and ask for a transfer...! but of all the things to come across!! amazing how big it was as well...so busy! well on that note im guna get going. but hope all is well with you and see you soon...lots of love. georgie x x x
