We've made it down to Airlie, the gateway to sailing the Whitsundays. This afternoon we'll board our ship, the Dream Catcher for 2 days of exploring islands, snorkelling and hopefully sunbathing. Keep your fingers crossed that the group of people on our boat are nicer than in Darwin! So far we've been to Mission Beach and Magnetic Island. The former was wonderful. Darwin....hmmm....Myles and I have both been putting this postcard off, but have to do it sometime I guess. Basically our tour wasnt all that great. The itinerary was cool, loads of beautiful waterfalls, gorgeous places to swim in, great weather, lots of exercise, which M was very happy about. I just kept telling myself its good for me and soon Id be able to cool down in another plunge pool (temperatures never dropped below 30oC during the day!) so yes ...

So now we are in Darwin, but we have just come from Ayers Rock. And in my humble opinion it was a bit disappointing. Not the rock itself, that was an awesome sight, but the resort that surrounds it (which might i add is the only place to stay in hundreds of miles). The whole resort and all the hotels and shops on it are owned by one company so as you can imagine the prices are extortionate. I doubt very little of it goes back into the aboriginals as well, just so...

Fortunately for us, soph had a friend out heer, fran, who we've been able to stay with for this whole time! Great to be in a home again and also has saved us so much money!
