We hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season.
As for us, we arrived into Bangkok, Thailand on December 22nd. We liked the city so much that we decided to hunker down for the holidays. Although it was difficult to be away from family and friends during the holidays, we've enjoyed the luxuries and comforts that the city has offered (for example the movie theaters sell tickets to see their movies on a Lazy Boy!). We've spent the majority of the time here at local markets, Buddhist temples, and just plain relaxing. Oh, and did I mention eating? Yes, we've been doing an awful lot of that! (Thailand has incredible street food, often for less than a dollar!). We celebrated Christmas night with some street Pad Thai, local beer, and a dessert of roasted grasshoper (couldn't find apple pie so decided this was the next best thing). Other than that, we've found Thailand & Thais to be very warm and welcoming. They don't call this the land of smiles for nothing!
We rang in the New Year in the heart of the city with over 100,000 Thais, a crazy bunny hop peace sign count down (you'll have to have Adam demonstrate this special dance when we get home), and a very nice firework display at midnight. We are headed north tomorrow to continue our adventures in Chiang Mai. We promise to write again soon and wish you all a very Happy New Year. We hope 2011 brings joy and happiness to you & your families.
