Hi, I'm actually in Auckland now, but I didn't get a chance to right this when I was in Singapore.
I just had one and a half days in Singapore, so I had to cram in quite a lot of sightseeing into a short space of time. I arrived in Singapore mid afternoon, and just dumped my bags at the hostel and went out for a wander round the city. I made my way down Orchard Road and then onto the harbour. The thing that is probably most noticable about Singapore is how clean it is...you can really see how well maintained it is, and it comes across that the Singaporians (if that's what they're called?!) are really proud of and care about their city. For me this makes it a really pleasant place to be, especially around the harbour... but to be honest you do only need a few days there, after that you have pretty much exhausted the sights and attractions. I went to the harbour again to eat in the evening, and it is quite busy at night, but it's mainly full of business men, and older couples...bit too civilised for when you are travelling!! Also, this clientelle keeps the prices high...which is definitely not good when you are travelling...$12 for a Mojito is not what I have become used to!!!
The next day I decided to travel over to Sentosa island...but to be honest I was not that impressed...there are some really nice beaches there, but it is very touristy and set out like one big holiday complex...it was just a bit naff. The weather didn't help though...there was terrential rain on and off. Had the weather been nice it probably would have seemed a whole lot nicer, and I could have spent some time on the beach.
Early the next morning I flew onto Auckland!
