I am going to start by saying - Byron Bay is beautiful!!
I arrived to yet another day of sunshine and explored the hostel, which was brilliant and the town and beach.
On my first proper day in Byron, I spent most of the day by the pool as there were a few showers that meant I didn't want to stray to far away from the hostel.
That night I went out for dinner with 2 of my room mates, Catherine and Katy, to Cheeky Monkeys - was $5 for a meal and free pink champayne - was really nice food aswell!!
The next day I got up and walked to the lighthouse. I got soaked as it rained about 15 minutes after I left but I soon dried off in the midday sun. The walk took you along the coastline all the way up to the lighthouse at the top of a hill.
It was a really long hard walk (I have never seen so many steps!!) but the views were amazing and it was definately well worth it! I even saw some dolphins swimming in the sea near the lighthouse.
When I got back I went for a well deserved swim in the hostel pool and spent the rest of the afternoon there.
Day 3 and my final proper day at Byron was raining! I had planned to spend the day on the beach, but it didn't stop raining all day, so spent most of the day in the TV room :(.
Day 4 saw the day I was supposed to leave so I packed up and checked out. It was another rainy day, but I did manage to spend some time on the beach before I headed off for my bus to Sydney. It turned out however that the rain had been worse in the South and the roads were flooded and hence the bus couldn't get to Sydney. This meant I had an extra night in Byron and managed to get the first bus out the next morning, finally arriving in Sydney at 00:30 this morning!
Suppose I can't expect everything to run smoothly, but am please I finally made it here!
