Not much to report for this entry as Vientiane is pretty quiet and we haven't really found much to do. Took the Lonely Planet's advice yesterday and did a bit of sightseeing. Walked round the National Museum and then went to Patouxay or Victory Monument which is like a Lao version of the Arc de Triomphe. After Luang Prabang we went on an extremely twisty, winding 6 hour hair-raising bus journey to Vang Vieng. The bus was just a bit too close to the edge of the extremely beautiful drop below, but it was an enjoyable and scenic ride all the same! Arrived in Laos (Luang Prabang) from Chiang Mai by plane at around 16:30, wow what a flight! The plane looked like something out of a museum. Our last blog finishes with us leaving Bangkok and going to Phitsanulok. This took five hours on the train but was bearable with a good book. Phitsanulok doesn't really have much to see but it's a base most travellers use for visiting Sukhotai - an old historical city with ancient 'wat' ruins. So this is what we did.
