After a long 18 hour bus journey we ended up here in Mildura, a lil place along the Murray River on the border between Victoria and New South Wales. before we got here we had organised 10 weeks working packing oranges but when we arived here and saw the accomodation they were offering we politely declined!!haha nah we just upped and left!!the place was a dive, our room was literally a lil shed atatched to the house, it was cold n dirty n full of bugs!!err. we found another hostel which is lush!!n we get a wicked discount at pizza hut and a free bbq every week so we fill up for the week!!!perfect place haha!we managed 2 blag our own telly in our room and a heater-dont sound that exciting but it is-its blimming freezing here at night, awww the simple things haha. weve met loadsa cool people here n have had a wicked laugh!theres not much 2 do in Mildura except work n sit out in the hostel bar and listen to the other drunk backpckers all night-quite entertaining really haha. the hostel sorts out work for us!!sometimes!!haha!! weve both had loads different jobs but aint really earned that much haha: gavs worked pulling out grape vines, removing vines covers, furniture removing(yea a bit random) helping plant almond trees(hammering posts n putting on guards 2 protect them)and wall building. Ive worked trimming and rolling grape vines, cutting vines into sticks to replant, helped plant almond trees(putting guards on) furniture removal and i worked in a garlic factory sorting through getting rid of the rotten garlic!!i STANK for a week errrr!!!! The works nearly killed us n sometimes drove us nuts but its been fun doing new stuff but neither of us have earnt much money though-the thing with employers over here is they wont avoid discussing money with u and change the subject if u try and bring it up untill uve worked for a few days n then they tell u how little your on hahaha. we did manage to get a tidy job for a week but it was in the back of beyond!we had 2 travel for 5 hours to a place bout an hour outside of a lil town called hilston to a lil cabin house in the middle of nowhere!we stayed and worked with 4 guys, the only other female company was amie the dog. there was a english guy who gav just talked football with 24/7, a weird old german guy who live in his car with his dog , a proper farmer guy who taught us how to fillet a fish he caught and how to make beer batter(a skill we should all learn) haha. and the boss guy who never really spoke exept to ask for another beer. we were working on blocks of land where millions of almond trees had been planted and we had to just put these lil plastic guards around them to protect them!easy yea???yea but we had to walk up and down rows and rows and rows and rows of trees all day for 9 hours, we got fitter but it drove us insane!!!we earnt good money though!they wanted us to stay longer but neither of us could stand being so far away from a mcdonalds or pizza hut haha, we got back yest n its wicked to be back in civilization haha. dunno how people live in da middle of nowhere its weird to only be able to see fields n kangaroos. oooo yea we saw our first kangaroo :o) we r planning on staying here and working for another few weeks cos we want 2 get our visa signed off so we can apply for another one in the future if we want(dont worry we aint planning on comin back straight away)haha. sorry aint had time to update this more recently been busy working n cant update it properly now cos we gotta go catch a bus! we arrived back in sydney yesterday n we r already on the move again to a place called port Macquarie. weve had a wicked time in mildura- weve been to a backpackers wedding! n weve met some amazing people, a Maltese stalion, some 'lush' norwegian chick, casper the friendly ghost, mr chips n loads more!! weve worked hard-aint managed 2 actually save much though!!weve turned into painters n decorators in the last few weeks as well!haha. we will update this properly asap -we promise n will keep you all upto date on where we are!!!! UPDATE:right so let me tell you wot we got up 2 in our last few weeks in mildura...... we moved out of the house we were staying in n moved into hose 3 which was like luxury compared 2 house 1-indoor bathroom, its own kitchen!! at first we were on our own, then justine n zenzi moved in.....then evryone else did-total of 12!!!wot an amazing few weeks we had 2gether!! :o) we had 2 shy german guys, 2 'lush' norweigian chicks, 2 french birds, casper n a crazy maltese guy!!! we both ended up working painting one of the hostel owners houses for him-we r both so multi-talented aint we :o) and we attended a backpackers wedding-Justine n Zenzi-shes from oz n he's dutch-they met on the internet a few years ago n the crazy people got married,hahaha :o) so we attended the wedding n enjoyed a lot of free champagne n wine afterwards,haha. we held a special birthday party for Antoine n gave him 'Mr Chips' hes the mascot from a local cheap shop called 'cheap as chips' n antoine loves the shop!!!so mr chips became the 13th housemate!!! we left mildura on the 14th of august-we'd spent 3 long months there!!!!we worked horrible hard jobs-for bad money and we got ripped off by one boss as well. So we aint saved any money really like we intended to so it might affect our trip but we had an amazing time there n have met some FAB people!!!!!!!!!n had some fab experiences!!!
