Second day in Lima. Main plaza closed off by police. Pockets of what appeared to be Peruvian pensioners gathered together. It appeared they had a bone to pick with their government. Decided to avoid them and explore an old Franciscan monastery dating waaaay back. Here we are shown some of the remaining bones of some 20000 people buried in the churches catacombs. This sparked our appetites so we selected a restaurant that appeared popular with the locals. Unfortunately the menu was all in Spanish and our dear waitress although sweet was in no way English speaking. We decided to try the old random selection trick and were left pleasantly surprised. Feeling chuffed that we ate with the "locals" we trekked off to the local China Town although I noted very few actual Chines people there. Satisfied that we had done our tourist thing we returned to our hotel. Lima probably only needs a day.
