I slept like a baby again. I woke up to Chris asking did I hear people walking up and down the hallway about 50 times and a large crash sound. I didn't hear a thing. But honestly I think I could sleep through a hurricane.
We had our free breakfast again, and then packed up and got ready to check out. We still had 4 hours before we needed to head back to the greyhound terminal. The receptionist recommend going to a sports bar about 5 minutes from the hostel. Walking through the shopping centre someone from Starbucks was handing out free pumpkin spice lattes. I love the pumpkin spice syrup, and I was just hopping it wouldn't taste of coffee... It did. Not nice. Chris managed to through his down him!
We decided to start our day by walking down to the lock, there must have been at least 10 gates on this lock that linked a canal to the river. Lucky enough a boat was going through it when we arrived, it seems a massive ball ache to be honest. They should just open all the gates and ride the water to the bottom. We watched for about 15 minutes and they only managed to go through 2 gates. At the bottom of the river we decided to walk around it. Ottawa was located on the river edge. Once side was Ontario and the other Quebec. We would cross over to Quebec provence . The walk only took us an hour and it must have been a good few miles. We were about to cross the bridge back over to the Ontario provence when we heard screeching and police cars... As we approached the bridge there looked like loads of tree branches on the pavement(Sidewalk!) a women that walked past us said there had just been a police car chase. This car had collided with a tree on the pavement... We were gutted that we just missed it.
The sports bar was our next stop, and we started with a pint of Canadian. We decided to order some food as the fajitas were half price. The second pint was going to be something different we were sitting at the bar, and the barmaid let us try it first - thank god she did, it was disgusting. It was like a ale kind of beer. Yuk. We both said we will stick to Canadian at the same time.! The bar we were in was called Don Cherry's. I think they said he was a famous ice hockey guy! Lol.
It was time to go back to the jail for the last time. Collect out bags and head to the bus stop just outside the shopping centre. We were only waiting a couple of minutes before the number one came past. The driver was nice enough to yell at us 'Greyhound stop' even thought I did know. Our bus drive today was 5 hours. Every time I get on a bus, I just want to close my eyes and go to sleep! Maybe it's the motion. We played some cards and just chilled out. We have heard from a few people why are we going to North Bay. Honestly we need to break up the journey... North Bay looked like a nice place. On the lake!
Once we arrived at the terminal in North Bay. We called a taxi and headed to the Howard Johnson hotel. It was only a 5 minute ride and once there checked in and took a look a our room! Yes Room..! Not dorm, it was nice to have a double bed each, and our own bathroom! My bed was amazing as well. We watched a few Canadian tv programme before going to sleep. We have been in North Bay for a couple of hours now, and so far so good!
