Today we are leaving North Bay, we had our free breakfast, and robbed some stuff so we can make lunch later on in the day. The beds were so comfortable! We checked out of our rooms and left our bags in reception. We decided to head to the nicest part of the town - Lake Nipissing. The rest of the town can be torn down by a bulldozer! (Harsh I know!).
We decided to walk up the lake, and found a small beach, spent a little time skimming stone, at least we thought it was stones. It could have been dried goose s***. It was another hot autumn day. It was only about 12 but we decided to eat the supplies we took, it was only a couple of bagel, butter, peanut butter & jam, oh an a banana each. I had the best bagel ever! Peanut butter and mashed banana! It was so amazing - you gotta try it! I then started to fed the seagulls - bad idea! They wouldn't leave us alone.
It was time to head back to the hotel to collect our bags and then head to the greyhound bus station. We decided that it shouldn't take us that long. The taxi took us 5 minutes the other night, so we went ahead and walked! It was a mission with our back packs! My rucksacks must total 20 kilos in weight, and we walked about 35 minute. I had a nice sweaty back when we finally arrived.
We had arrived at the terminal about an hour early, so decided to walk around the shopping centre that we could see across the train tracks. It was massive, maybe if we had know it was here we would have spent some money, they even and an American Eagle. Never mind ill wait until we get into the states.
Interesting fact about North Bay.
"North Bay's air force base is the centre for the air defence of the entire country, and works in concert with the United States via NORAD for the air defence of Canada-U.S"
The bus was busy everyone was leaving North Bay - it also meant that me and Chris sat together for the first time. The journey was long, we had a stop over in Sudbury. This was another town we were thinking about stopping at, thank god we didn't - it was another dead end railway town. There are always crazy people on the buses, they take a load of crap, and smoke about 10 cigarettes every time the bus stops. (& it stops a lot). I just seemed to sleep, and play with my iPad. I really don't mind doing night buses, it's just a lot nicer when you have 2 seats to yourself. It was around midnight when I noticed someone getting off in the middle of nowhere, I jumped up and ran to the seats. Allowing me and Chris to both have a row of 2 each - which would help us get some sleep. Every better it got me away from the group of hillbillies.
Tune into my next blog to find about the rest of this exciting night bus journey!
