Well I have been pretty rubbish at this updating thing so will have to write all about the islands in this one Blog as we have arrived in out last port of call down here which is Koh Tao, We are here for 4 nights and are diving tomo so ealry night and prob just sit and watch film by beach tonight...tough life this.... anyway I will write abit more about each island below and will add pics too..also prob on facebook if this computer allows me to upload more than one a minute.
Koh Phi Phi -
I loved this island, it was so chilled out, we left Phuket and the weather was great on the crossing which meant the island looked amazing as we arrived. We stayed at the place on the far side of the isalnd and right on the beach called Castia and we had a little hut...actually a very posh hut...This is the venue where we meet Rich who has been travelling with us for last few weeks since Phi Phi and is the blond land in the photos, he lives and plays rugby in Oz at minute. We also met loads of other guys here as it is a mecca for travellers vby the sounds of things. for the first two days we just chilled out by the pool and on the beach before going out in eve, one night of which was a crazy Pier Party which ended at about 7am with me, Rich and some germans skinny dipping of the end of the peir....= great night. However my camara got pinched so no photos from here which is rubbish. Check EDs site for those. The next night we spent on Myia Bay(film - the beach), we arrive after all the tourists and leave before they arrive the next day, we where meant to be spending it with 23 others but it turned out we actually only had a group of 8 so infact it was even better, me, ed, some english lad, a kiwi, an israli, 2 yanks (nutters and great blokes) and a german girl. This was by far one of the best experiences of my trip so far. just us, a fire, sleeping bag, moonlight, a beautiful beach and loads of redbull and sangsum whisky...perfect combination for night time swimming and annoying the yanks with the snaps game. But seriously what a beautiful place and without any of the other 1000 tourists that go there everyday. Recommend this to everyone.
AO Nang -
This was a 5 night saty for us, and was the activity week really. first few days we spent kayaking in the mangroves and island hoping around the local islands. The weather was a bit s*** so this was not as good as hoped for. However the weather got better and we then went white water rafting and ATV Treking...this was a Brilliant day out. The white water rafting was great fun, we finished and they asked us if we wanted to do anymore and we said yes and make it hard...This was a mistake...the second set off rapids saw us get stuck between two rocks and even the guide was scared...the result was all four of us in the boat + 2 guides being thrown out and washed down the next few sets of rapids, most under water and colliding with every single bloody rock.....A very sore back later i had had one of the scariest but most exciting 15 seconds of my life...
The afternoon saw Us doing ATV treking...this would not be allowed in UK and is one reason why i really love Thailand...the Quad bikes where stupidly powerful, the terrain was very dicey and the hills etc...steep as f....., all in all a great 3 hours.
After this we went and feed the monkeys at the monkey temple cave, they are so tame, see the vid i post...great stuff.
Next day we decided to hire mopeds (see vids) and went and looked for the crystal lagoon, however we set off late as me and rich where hungover after a huge night with some scottish girls and we got lost on route, however we did find the tiger cave temple which sits ontop of a huge hill...ed thought it would be a good idea to climb the 1237 steps tyo see it and my lord that was soooooo hard as it was soooo hot...we ended up walking the last 400 steps in our boxers as we where so hot....lol.
oh and we had some really nice seafood in Ao Nang as well.
Koh Pha-ngan
We have just left here. Meant to be the party Island as i am sure your all aware, this was so quiet as we had missed the Full Moon Party, gutted as it sounds like a great night but we did get to go the the Black Moon party which was ok, if a bit quiet. still a great night...and the buckets here where soooo strong...+ loads of Neon paint.....
again we decided after the party to spend a day chilling by the pool as it was a really nice resort with a pool by the beach. however we did have to change rooms as our first was also called the sauna and also had the whole population of ants in Koh Pha-nang in our shower room.
Next few days where also great fun, spent the morning recovering from various partys + Halloween party by the pool as weather was awsome for once and the afternoon exploring the isalnd which has some really beautiful beaches in the North East of the Island, I think the fact the island was so quiet helped and we also found an ENglish Pub which did pints and Pies...which where great...sorry for those who love Thai food but I have eaten the same amount of rice in the last 3 weeks that i would have eaten in about 5 years at home...
Koh Tao -
So far it seems to be the most chilled island, very simillar to PHI PHI, I will tell you more over the next few days....
Well Koh Tao was easily my favourite island from the south. On the first day we had a practce dive nice and ealry in the Pool. I absolutly bricked it and thought that i wasn't going to do the fun dive that afternoon, but the instructor was very persistant and also had a fantastic body so I followed her to the sea and eventually actually went under the water and from then I was hooked. The dive that afternoon as fantasic. I did two and saw loads, prob the best bit was the sea snake however.
The next few days were spent chilling on the beach with the Canadian girls we met in Koh Phangnan..nice.....the weather was great and we literally did nothing for 3 days which was super.... Next stop is Chang Mai
