We are bored in Huaraz!

12 hours on the truck yesterday to get here and today, when we should have been hiking to Laguna 69, we are couped up in our hotel room as Tim is feeling a little under the weather... Nothing serious, just a bit of an upset stomach and is having to sleep it off as he has no energy (and I wasn't going to leave him all day - who would get his lunch for him?).

The town is surrounded my amazing mountains (which we forgot to get a photo of) with so much snow still on them. It's really breathtaking.

There isn't much to do in town. All activities are day trips away... Thats where the rest of the crew are today.

It took me about 45 minutes to find a cafe which made sandwiches as there isnt much more Tim can eat, the poor thing. There are simply no cafeteria-type places in this town, unless you want pizza or a hamburger. Im craving salad and veggies again!

So, a bit of a 'nothing' day, but thought Id update as I told mum and dad we were going on another hike - so yeah, mum and dad: we didnt get to go! haha

We're off to Huanchaco next, which is a coastal town and it will be warm (YAY! Its quite cold here because we're at altitude again).

Further to our 'you know you're in South America when' list...

You know you're in South America when...:

1. there is a dog (with enormous nipples) at every lunch stop;

2. any music played on panpipes by a local is a Simon and Garfunkel song;

3. you get used to having babywipes showers;

4. hot chips are SOGGY because the oil they've used to fry them in hasnt been hot enough and so, the potatoes have absorbed all the oil...ewwwww (you'd think they would've learnt by now);

5. you get offered free Pisco Sours with your meal and its probably the only drink on the menu that you dont want;

6. pizza is covered with a kilo of cheese;

7. locals pee in broad daylight into street drains (saw it with my own eyes!!! LOL);

8. you cannot buy ice.
