Leave super early for high speed train to Shang. Departs at 11.10 from Beijing South, Laura left me for 5 mins athe station and I was surrounded by about 6 men shouting at me. A man o the bench cut in after about 5 minutes to tell me they wanted to know where I was from. They continued to talk mandarin and I contributed to be tired hangry. Ate some cake and felt happier. Wake up at 7.40 still tired! Get ready for Great Wall trek (horribly ill equipped). Get collecting late circa 9. 3 hour bus to wall at jinsangling. Long hikers and down over and over. Great Wall insane and also quiet! Tour guide aron an actually lol- excellent value. Home after 3-4hd hike. So tired, crash at hostel with pizza- chat to save who wants to come out. Want him to too but Laura isn't keen and I feel it would be a little unfair on her

Wake up late- such a bad nights sleep at Peking yard hostel! Get vpn to bypass great firewall of China (all my favourite websites and social media apps were blocked!). Book trains via hostel (134£ for Shang and Xian). Books Great Wall trip, the head to summer palace using new subway app. About 50min journey- no getting lost

Yayyy! Sleep in. Walk to bookstore- no China guides, what a sad event. None the less on to forbidden city using triposo. Entry 6£, grounds huge! Left by 5pm when headed to tieneman square. Photos taken then on to craft beer place. Met 3 expats- Logan (cute), breck and jakob. Entertaining- much food eaten then walked home (obviously getting lost along way due to lack of map and guide book!)x
