Wow so Lourdes, so unexpected!
So 6am wake up to get to the airport for my flight.... Ahhh! At the airport I had to say bye to Diane :( I'll miss her so much and I hope she is reading this coz she needs to come and visit in Australia :)
So my plane to Lourdes was a small, country plane with two aisles with two seats each column. I was lucky and got the window seat with no one next to me. When we were almost in Lourdes and I looked out the window, all I saw were the beautiful Pyrenees in the background, ahhhhhhh! So bloody amazing :) They just took my breath away!
So once I landed I grabbed my bag and headed for the local bus into the city. On the way I saw a sign for mcdonalds.... Of course that's where I'm heading. So after 5 minutes staring at the map I finally found my hotel and went for a walk to maccas :) free wifi and food :)
After maccas I decided I want to go and visit the big castle thing (man I'm so bad with names of things!). So this castle is massive and in the middle of Lourdes :) I walked up the 114 steps to look out up the top, Ahhh so amazing, mountains as my backdrop, in the French countryside and the sun shining :)
After he castle I walk to the big church in Lourdes in which there are 100's of pilgrims flocking too, bus after bus of people. So I'm assuming it's an important church, it looks pretty and massive and it stands out a mile away.
After this I walk home gather my things for the night and head to the bus station where I speak in French to get my bus ticket and head up the col du tourmalet :)
So once I arrive in luz saint sauveur I go and find where I have to check in, grab my map and head all the way back through town to where my apartment is. It was a nice apartment about 5minutes walk out of town. I went, dropped my things and headed back into town to find a beer :) after the beer I went to the supermarket for supplies for the next day (more beer of course) and then headed home.
The place seemed a bit scary for me so I decided to grab the knives from the kitchen and sleep with them next to me, just in case. I woke in the morning and realized I was fine, but I was always thinking safety first!
Well the tour awaits me :) catch ya :p
