Chinatown, Singapore
Arrived in Singapore yesterday at 2.30pm. Found my bags after 20 mins and went through immigration. Caught a shuttle from the airport to Hotel Re (Pearls Hill). Shuttle cost $9, bargain and only took 20 mins.
Have a tenth floor hotel room; with free wifi. Very handy, been using the net heaps.
First dinner; went to Chinatown which is only 15 mins walk. So convenient; ate a roll (just like a vietnamese roll) and a bowl of laksa. Total cost $3. Amazing and taste fantastico.
This morning, got up at 5am. Couldnt sleep; so surfed the net and looked for places to rent. Organised to meet some agents. Went to Chinatown for breakfast again. Ate some tasty noodles with snake beans and beancurd; covered in oil and no serviette! Had to use my map to wipe my face. Funny stuff.
Then tried to set up a bank account and buy a mobile..no can do as my ID has not been finalised yet. Ate hainanese chicken for lunch at the Mandarin hotel on orchard road; had to get take away as I was running late to the inspection. Tasty lunch; $25. Nice rice, chicken was ok. Soup was very good, then I sat out in the heat for 45 mins because the agent was late. Managed to eat my lunch in the taxi on the way over and then ate the rest outside the building. Place was totally run down. 5 people sharing one bedroom.
Was walking down the street and I thought there was a leech on my leg. There was a huge black mark, so I screamed and poured my entire water bottle on my leg...turns out it was just a leaf :(
Dinner went back to Chinatown; bought some noodles in soup. I asked for chilli -but it was SO hot. Couldnt finish it, nice but just too spicy. Couldnt close my mouth for a solid hour afterwards.
Back at the hotel now; early night and will explore more tomorrow. Today actually walked for about 3 hours.
