Getting up after only 6hrs sleep is difficult but we managed and off we headed to the bus station for our bus to Granada. Again, we had booked our seats before we left and had allocated seats. Getting on the bus, they had free bottles of water for people and ear phones which we were soon to find out was for the individual tv screens at our seats. I like travelling in Spain. Slept for a couple of hours before putting on one of the few english movies they had. We stopped for 40mins for a lunch break before arriving into Granada 15mins early (which meant missing the end of the movie). A taxi soon had us at the Pension we had booked. Very difficult to go from a 5 star hotel to a 2 star pension that is for sure. No lift to take the luggage up the 2 flights of stairs and no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan although we were promised at night we could open the windows as it would be much cooler. Hosts were lovely though.
After dumping our bags and getting changed into cooler clothes we headed down into the plaza. We bought tickets for the jump on and jump off bus and also booked into the Hamman for tomorrow. On the bus, we did a tour of the Albayzin which overlooks the Alhambra before jumping off near the Cathedral. We went and picked up our tickets for tomorrow so we didn't have to line up. Went to insert the credit card I thought I had paid for the tickets with and it wasn't a match. Looks like the card I used is the one I left at home. Felt so stupid. They are pretty strict here with tickets for some reason and I didn't think he was going to let me get them. In the end I showed my passport and lucky I had my phone which proved my email address and he printed them off. Had my first breakdown of the trip. Usually so organised and this trip I just feel like I'm not my usual self but all good in the end.
We headed over to the Cathedral and went inside. Another beautiful one. At least we aren't getting too 'churched' out over here. The architecture is just incredible. We also visited the Capilla Real (Royal Chapel) where King and Queen Isabella and Ferdinand are laid to rest. Sat down for a cool drink because it is so warm here. Most of the restaurants here have a cool mist spraying down on you if you sit outside to keep you cool which is much appreciated. We didn't do much in the evening, just found somewhere to eat. The one place I wanted to go was packed so we settled for somewhere else and although the food was OK, wasn't the best we have had.
Back to our pension for a nice cold shower and some good old handwashing. I have started to come down with a cold so not feeling 100% but not going to let it stop me. Lucky we bought some cold and flu tablets with us because it usually happens going from the cold to the hot weather. Looking forward to the Alhambra tomorrow.
