All my life I have grown un with my parents telling me of the crazy adventures they had when they were 'younger'....and it wasn't untill just this weekend that I took a step backwards and realized Oh my GOD, One day when my children are 18 i'm going to be telling them of what i'm doing right this moment. Not to mention if I remeber my experiences clearly enouth they will be locked in their rooms and wont be aloudout untill they're thirty!!!!!!!
The weekend started very spontaneously with the decison to road trip to the Grand Canyon, I was overly excited as I had come to terms with the fact that the Grand Canyon was probably something I wasnt going to be able to do this time around(based on vanishing funds and time). Our end of week meeting finished at 6 oclock and off we went on our four hour drive with no idea where we were going to eat or sleep. We stoped in a drive through town for dinner.....yes Americas drive through towns still have every fast food joint u couls imagine and more, it is America after all. We ate and continued with our journey, the next task was WHERE WERE WE GOING TO SLEEP? The sun was going down and we were rapidly running out of time. One of the girls we were with remembered a camping spot she had previously stayed in, soooo with no other options we headed off to set up camp(it's now about 9 oclockat night and completley pitch black).
When Megan(the girl who was showing us camp) said we were going to wet our pants when we saw where we were sleeping, she wasnt lying. We pulled down a road of the side of a forrest road where there are free camp sites, we then drove down this creepy secluded forrest road and then pulled down another road.....and drove a little futher untill we came to a fire circle "this is camp" ushered Megan. So we set up camp and were asleep by midnight. During the night we heard cayotes and other such forrest folk, hoping for the best I shut my eyes and drifted to sleep. 3 hours later the alarm went of and in the blink of an eye we were packed and driving toward the Grand Canyon to see the sun rise.
We arrived at the Grand CAnyon so early that we didnt have to pay an entry fee, watched the sunrise, hiked the Rim of the most breath taking whole in the ground and then headed away from the Grand Canyon at 10.30Am just as all of the tourist were starting to flood in. a couple of hours later the heavens open and the rain started to poor. We came to the conclusion that camp in in the rain wouldnt be so much fun not to mention we all needed to get a good nights sleep before returning to camp the next day, so we headed off to a motel for the night......And thats when I got a dread in my hair!!!!!!!!
To be continued......
