The theme of today is "Godbye's Suck". After spending a week with our family in Cessaniti we are now left to deal with the ultimate insult to happiness - The Goodbye! It doesn't seem to matter how much you do it, it doesn't get any easier, in fact, as you get older I think it becomes harder. We are now sitting in a train bound for Catania blowing kisses and waving to our cousins, uncle and aunty. The car ride to Lamezia was a procession of phone calls from people that couldn't make it to say goodbye in person. This week has flown and now we are left to deal with emptiness of "the Goodbye"
The blog as had a break for a few days as we rested our mind and enjoyed the beautiful company and sites of Calabria. Yesterday,I was up early with Zio and we went out to the cemetary to pay our respects to my grandparents on both sides and also my Zio Walter who died suddenly in a tractor accident about 40 years ago. Later we all visited Pizzo again but this time in daylight. You will remember that I mentioned in the previous blog that these towns morph between day and night? I'll let the photos speak for themselves! The afternoon was occupied with another visit to the beach this time to a little known location called Paradiso Del Sud. There is a bit of a trek down some stairs to get to this spot but it is worth the effort. You can decide for yourself when you see the photos but even the photos don't do it justice!
Dinner was, once again, a feast and it was followed by a continuation of the game of cards from the night before where Johanna cheated to win by looking at my cards. Some things don't change even when you change countries!
We have just arrived in Catania, Sicily for the next part of this fantastic trip. It is raining here so we are a little disappointed but the weather is bound to get better. Here we will meet up with Dahlsen again. I forgot to tell you that he ditched us out of Milan because the Americans were to meet him in Sicily during the week. I'm not sure who the Americans are at this stage but will update you in the next post. What I do know is that Dahlsen was very excited before leaving Milan!

frankswebmail I didn't cheat he is just a sore loser!!! Besides the whole table could see his cards and for those of you who have played cards withFrank will know exactly what I mean!!!!
Tina I'm guessing you won't be playing cards together again for a while. Goodbyes sure do suck, but you're so lucky to have had that time with mums family & your family. Xo
