We awoke to a beautiful day viewed from our sumptuous bedroom! Breakfast was another freshly cooked meal - full Irish for Anthony and a cheese and ham omelette for me (with smoked salmon on the side!). Naturally we only needed a banana for lunch.
The sun was shining and the drive was full of beautiful coastal and green farmland scenery yet again. We stopped at Tralee for some cash as our B&B for the night couldn't take credit (their machine was broken) and they let us know there is no ATM in Doolin!
We continued through County Kerry to catch the ferry across the river Shannon to County Clare on the next peninsular. We snaked through the usual country lanes where we could avoid the tourist coaches and see the local countryside.
Anthony stopped for some supplies (Irish beer) at the local grocery store in a little village called Lehinch. We then visited the local surf beach. Very rocky, very cold and not much surf.
Next stop, Cliffs of Moher. As we arrived at the main viewing point we were overwhelmed by tourists. Anthony's comment: "like ants to sugar" and that is exactly what it looked liked. People everywhere trailing up the pathways to view the cliffs (6 euros a person!).
The cliffs were certainly worth viewing, but we thought the twelve apostles' coastline in Victoria left it for dead. There were also a lot of tourists climbing the fences to stand on the crumbling edges for selfies - none fell while we were there!
Our next stop was Doolin and our B&B, Cois-Na-hAbhann (near the river), was perfectly located. Hotel Doolin and its Irish music and food was less than 50 metres walk and that's where we "trudged" to dinner. The selection of Irish beer was broad and Anthony tried a local Doolin lager. The food was good and the local Irish singer was as well. It was a good night and strangely I felt like I was at home. Must have spent too much time in Irish bars...
